Summary
Book Pad does not collect personal data. It does not store your data on a server, and it does not sell or share it. Book Pad has no accounts, advertising, analytics or tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
If you allow it in your Apple device settings, Apple may share crash and usage data with developers. This is an Apple opt-in feature. Book Pad does not collect it itself.
Data on Your Device
Your books, highlights, notes and reading positions stay on your device. Book files are in the Book Pad folder in the Files app (On My iPad > Book Pad). Highlights and notes are saved in a notes file next to each book and in a database on your device. Your reading positions are in that database.
Depending on your settings, your device backup or iCloud backup may include this data. Backups are managed by Apple and by your settings.
Network
Book Pad's features do not connect to the network.
Content inside a book cannot reach the internet. Book Pad blocks book pages from loading online images, fonts, styles and scripts, and from making web connections.
Links in a book that point to the web or to an email address open in Safari or Mail only after you confirm.
Export and Sharing
Markdown export and sharing happen only when you choose them, through the system share sheet or by saving a file. You decide where an exported file goes.
Bluetooth and Other Devices
Book Pad itself does not use Bluetooth or connect to other devices.
Retention and Deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. To delete one book's records:
- In the Files app, delete the book file and the notes file next to it from the Book Pad folder.
- In Book Pad, tap the book (now marked File Missing) and choose Delete Record. It moves to Recently Deleted.
- Delete it permanently in Recently Deleted, or wait 30 days. Its record, highlights, notes and reading position are then removed from the database.
Book Pad keeps an internal backup of a permanently deleted book's record, highlights and notes in app storage (not visible in Files). It is removed when you delete the app.
To delete everything at once, delete the app. Deleting the app removes the app folder and all data inside the app.
Files you exported, copies you shared and backups are yours to manage. Book Pad does not delete them.

This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking.
